For effective communication, I have devised a comprehensive communication model tailored for hospital settings. The mode focuses on enhancing communication among patients, families, hospital staff, doctors, and hospital administration. This model aims to clarify, improve understanding, and facilitate seamless information flow within the complex hospital environment. The core of my communication model is based on a three-tier structure: Patient-Focused Communication, Interprofessional Collaboration, and Hospital-wide Information Dissemination. Each tier contributes uniquely to the overall communication process, ensuring that information is accurately conveyed and received.
At the model’s heart lies patient-focused communication, recognizing patients and their families as central stakeholders. Medical jargon is minimized to ensure clarity, and information is conveyed in simple terms. This promotes understanding and empowers patients to make informed decisions about their care (YouTube, 2016). A key element is personalized communication plans, detailing the patient’s preferred mode of communication and providing options for family involvement.
