Computer Communication And Its Influence On People’s Relationships Sample Assignment

At present, the development of technology is so widespread that people use it almost in every sphere of their lives. Communication is one of the areas where modern devices and the Internet have become important instruments. Different interactions have appeared recently including, e-mails, instant messaging, cell phone calls, video chats among others. Some people believe that it helps develop relationships, communicate with those who are far away. On the other hand, online communication has certain limits and can be harmful sometimes. Computer communication influences people’s relationships and life in general since it has numerous benefits.

Online communication has many advantages, which make it an essential part of the modern world. The first and probably the most significant benefit is a lack of borders. People can interact with each other being in a different places in the world. Cell phones, skype, zoom, and other programs are all designed to ruin the borderlines between countries and cultures. Moreover, an individual can hear and see the other person, which brings communication to a new level. This type of communication is close to face-to-face interaction because one can see emotions and react immediately.

Another benefit of online communication is those shy people or those with certain conditions can find friends and develop interpersonal skills. Forums, social networks, and messengers are vital tools due to which people can interact with each other and stop conversations whenever they start to feel uncomfortable. Social medial and similar instruments help filter what one wants to see and the people one wants to talk to. Therefore, online communication is handy for those who have issues with face-to-face conversations.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages of computer interaction, such as technological limits, online bullying, difficulties with the development of meaningful relationships. Even though online communication destroys borders between countries, some states ban certain messengers and social media, for example, China has blocked WhatsApp. As for interpersonal challenges, sometimes computer communication can prevent people from developing interpersonal skills. When a person texts or makes a recording, they try to do it fast and use short structures, abbreviations, or emoticons. Thus, the standard level of literacy is decreasing, and it influences the level of education. Moreover, some people can find it challenging to express emotions offline. They became accustomed to using emojis or gifs to reflect their attitude to the situation. As a result, new technology simplifies communication and limits the ways to express emotions and moods.

Another drawback of online communication is uncontrolled bullying. The Internet helps people stay anonymous and spread rumors, threats, and spam letters. It has a negative effect on children and teenagers who do not know how to handle such problems. Some of them can ask adults for help but some take this bullying personally; thus, it influences their future behavior in building relationships with others. This problem is widespread, and young students need to be protected and explained how to act if they face such situations. Thus, there are some serious issues connected with gossip that negatively affect children’s and teenagers’ psychological states.

Computer communication has excellent development opportunities currently. It ties people, cultures, and countries, helps them interact with each other without any borders or limits. Although this type of communication has negative effects, such as bullying or technological progress, it is still one of the outstanding scientific achievements. Proper use of these new interaction tools can help develop interpersonal skills and advance them to a new level.

Participative Leadership In Nursing

When it comes to leadership I am a participative leader. Participative leadership employs democratic principles of inclusion whereby colleagues, peers, subordinate members and other stakeholders are duly involved in decision making and other roles of leadership. Leadership aims at furnishing goals and forging ways towards achieving preconceived goals. It requires the involved parties to contribute extensively to this process. In so doing, sound objectives are set and efficient means of executing them are put forth. Therein lay my faith and belief in participative leadership.

Attributes of a Good Graduate Nurse Leader

Every nurse leader should be involved in the day-to-day work. According to Mooney (2012, para. 4), being present means that one is available to receive invaluable suggestions from co-workers. Keeping an open mind is paramount if a nurse leader is disposed to other people’s suggestions, and this is a pivotal facet of participative leadership. Collaboration within a team is necessary. The leader should be ready to work with other members of staff regardless of their background. Empowerment of one’s subordinates is an indispensable tool when it comes to participative leadership. A participative leader makes notes to appreciate members whose contributions prove worthwhile.

Leadership Qualities I Possess

To the best of my knowledge, I am adept at communication skills which are a focal point in the Praxis of the principles of participative leadership. Needless to say, relaying one’s ideas and, conversely, listening to others are the most determinant characteristics of participative leadership. There is also the natural ability to be organized at my disposal, thus I am capable of organizing people to see through a common goal. I share a highly infectious enthusiasm for my profession which indubitably motivates and inspires those around me to work passionately. In the sentiments of Mother Teresa, she said that “it is not how much you do, but how much you love what you do” (Mooney 2012, para. 13). Passion is indeed a key ingredient in the undertaking of one’s duties.

Democracy is a tool that is vital in my leadership style. In my view, a good leader takes the views of other members of staff and keenly analyzes them for future inclusion in policymaking.

Leadership Qualities to Be Acquired

Constant self-improvement is necessary for keeping abreast with the changing tides of the health care vocation. Consequently, the first leadership characteristic to acquire from my list is intuition. To anticipate impending events and preparations is appropriate in ensuring that a leader remains focused. Generating solutions is part and parcel of leadership, and problem-solving is synonymous with creativity, thus I intend to sharpen my creativity. Armed with creativity no problem will prove insurmountable. Gaining humility assists in gaining respect from the subordinates. Humility makes one approachable, predictable, and this opens a platform for participative leadership. Leaders who are humble tend to be respected and admired by staff and society at large.

Robert Burton, the scholar said, “I light my candle from their torches” (Mooney 2012, para. 8). Such is the embodiment of participative leadership that is wholesome, as it is an effective method of leadership in the vast craft of health care. A participative leader passes his legacy to the next level.

Problems In The US Healthcare System

There are different contemporary issues in the United States healthcare system that professionals have to face. As discussed by C-suite and director-level executives that are the members of HealthCare Executive Group (HCEG) organization, some of the problems are costs and transparency, consumer experience, data and analytics, and holistic individual health (MHE Staff, 2019). The crucial issue for the US healthcare system nowadays is data and analytics, including labs, sensors, mHealth, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, that members of the nursing discipline can help to address.

The emergence of nursing informatics education and specialization offer many opportunities to facilitate the process of IT transformation at healthcare organizations. It is reported that nurses have an essential impact on the data and analytics field because they usually use Electronic Health Records (EHR) and have an in-depth knowledge of healthcare workflows (Morgan, 2017). Analysts state that there is a high demand for nursing professionals in the US who can analyze a vast amount of data and contribute to enhancing healthcare quality, patient protection, and efficiency. Moreover, specialized nurses can contribute their knowledge of patient behaviors to answer clinical questions, using big data analytics gathered with the usage of wearable devices and sensors, EHR, internet, and genome information (Gleason & Himmelfarb, 2017).

To make a conclusion, one can state that today is the best time to turn challenges into opportunities, noting that professionals might significantly contribute to the development of IT systems in clinical organizations and enhance the quality of patient treatment. Nursing executives in the US healthcare system might substantially improve the utilization of technologies and provide education for nurses to effectively process the data gathered from different resources and extract valuable insights about patients’ health. These activities can be achieved by continuous education and usage of emerging technologies to analyze data by nurses.
