Pectoral has utilized this as a business venture, in that the camera can be mounted so that the drone can now take aerial photos or provide live video of what is happening on the ground from an aerial perspective.
However, instead of leaving the drones play like in size, they increased the scale and added a sophisticated navigation system. They have also added small weapons systems and created and entirely different beast. Now the drones are capable of going longer distances providing aerial photography that will provide the enemy location on which they can then develop their strategy of attack and then take that same information to lead the attack without ever leaving their office.
There are many resources that are involved and with those resources comes the cost related to them. There are many cost that are associated with the production of this system as it takes precise engineering, precise manufacturing to the exact specifications, chicanery, labor, and the ability to handle the necessary preciseness of manufacturing these systems. There are also costs associated with testing and further developing on the flawed components found by the testing, and the list goes on.
For example, the two main costs associated with production of this system are labor and material costs. Direct labor costs are those associated with the actual production of assembling the systems by skilled workers trained in the operation of the necessary equipment in the production of these systems. Some of the persons for these skilled aircrafts may not be those trained in how o weld and the various types of welding on many different types of materials.
Therefore, millwrights that are well versed in repairing the equipment used in the production process as well as test the tolerances of this equipment have to be sure specifications are followed, that machine and/or equipment operators that are knowledgeable on the operation of the various types of equipment, and that there are a few others associated with the direct manufacturing process.
The Indirect Cost associated and often recovered, such as those that may man the storeroom to have on hand the necessary components and materials associated tit the process, production managers educated in getting the best possible production out of employees, truck drivers that transport the finished product to the end user and many others such as the administrative costs. In terms of material costs, it is important to know the quantity of materials needed on hand to produce the ordered product.
It is also important to know the shelf life, if any, of all the components so that they may be utilized as soon as possible, to not interfere with production and to also not waste monies in purchasing those materials only to have them discarded. The production schedule is also of vital importance in the manufacturing process because it will aid in keeping correct quantities on hand for production. Having a proper schedule allows the time necessary to receive materials and place them into the production process when necessary.
Materials have two different types of cost, just like in labor. There is the direct and indirect cost. The direct materials costs are those directly related to the manufacture of the necessary components that results in the end product. The indirect costs are those not directly related to the manufacture of the end reduce, but support the items necessary in achieving the end product. In the process of the production, Pectoral must rely on the direct and indirect cost associated with the labor.
As explained before, the labor costs for Pectoral relate to the final production of all components that make up the navigation system and requires many skill crafts persons to achieve. The direct labor costs for my company are labor intensive in that a team of highly educated and talented programmers are required to write the software to be used on the systems that will control the global positioning systems and communicate with titillates, as well as the code required to run the controls and weapons systems onboard, should they be needed.
I would say that one highly important aspect of this system is the protection from hackers. This system must be tested, both in-house as well as independent, testers to insure that the system cannot under any circumstances be overridden by hackers and utilized in a manner that it is not intended for. Testing will also be a large part to work out any internal issues that will show during testing as well as tweaking the systems to the end user specifications and wants.
There are materials that are required for the system hat are more along the Victoria side of the operation in that the drones may require more specialized metals that can withstand the rigors of long, mid altitudes of flight over varying terrains as well as quickly changing weather patterns. In adding that to the cost of those components that communicate with the operators on the ground, those that communicate with global satellites for tracking, the best way to control these costs are through testing to ensure that quality, reliable components are used and that keep costs to its absolute minimum.
This will also ensure the long term viability for all involved. The varying sots between the two companies both will require highly technical labor to develop, operate and maintain the systems to meet the specifications of the contract holder. The semi variable costs are composed of fixed and variable costs, salaries, which are fixed, while any overtime labor will be a variable cost. Variable costs are sometimes necessary in order to achieve production schedules and can become a fixed cost over time as both companies work to streamline their productivity.
The basic administrative costs should be fixed, indirect, between the two and should remain constant throughout the year. Creating both equines models will take time, planning and effort but can be obtainable and hopefully, profitable for all involved. The end result is to satisfy the end user so that a vibrant, open business relationship is born that can be of benefit to people, unknowingly, around the globe.
The Application Of Economic Theory
Amazon is being driving in growth by the design n technological innovation; they are able to offer customers different types of products at a lower price. In 2000 they began to offer its best-of-breed e- commerce to other retailers and to individual sellers. So today Amazon has over 2 million small businesses, world-class retail brands and individual sellers that increased their sales. In 2006 Amazon launched Amazon Web Services (APP) it exposing key infrastructure service to businesses in form of web services and now it’s known as the cloud computing.
In 2007 they introduced the Kindle it was a revolutionary portable reader and you will be able to download books, Gaines, newspapers, blobs, and personal documents. The Kindle as a high resolution electronic, that looks and reads like a real paper. The Kindle Fire tablet was introduced in 2011 it had combined 15 years of innovation to a fully integrated end to end service for the customers. The Kindle Fire was the most successful product launch in the history of Amazon, it earned 10,000 5 star customer review (Amazon, 2013). The core business for Amazon is it has grown from an online bookseller to a virtual retailer.
Customers can purchase anything that they like from books, toys, food and electronics at a lower price Cones, 2013). Yahoo Inc. Started in 1994 as a hobby by its two founders Jerry Yang and David Fill. The two founders gradate from Stanford University and they created Jerry and Dive’s Guide to the World Wide Web this was a simple guide for people to navigate the internet. Within a short time thousands of people located the website and found it to be a time saving to help them find the most useful sites. The two founders continued to work on get the site organized and they rename it “YAHOO! . The founders struck a deal with Sequoia Capital a Silicon Valley firm that supported high tech companies (Jones, 2013). In 1995 Yahoo was in report and is Delaware incorporation. On April 12, 1996 Yahoo completed a public offering and was list on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol “YAHOO. ” The headquarters are in Sunnyvale, California they have offices in more than 30 countries, regions and territories. In 1996 there were 18 Yahoo portals that were being used in 12 languages that are operating outside the United States.
Yahoo is a global technology company that is making the worlds daily habits entertaining and inspiring. There are more the 800 million users that will search for digital magazines, communications, and videos that will be ordered by Flicker and Tumbler (Yahoo, 2014). Determine the key strategic differences that have impacted the relative success of both Amazon. Com and Yahoo. Com. Provide two (2) specific examples of such strategic differences to support the response. Amazons goal was to become a leader in online retail industry.
The two things that they did were to offer the customers free shipping and have deals of the day. They purchase small retail companies so they can increase opportunities and sales so they can add to their storefront. Amazon offers service to small and medium sign businesses so that they can provide service to the customers. So as time went on Amazon took over and some of the companies were forced to close down (Jones, 2013). Yahoo goal was to make their services more valuable to its uses and advertisers so they can increase in advertising revenues.
Yahoo was offering the user’s selection of internet services to create switching cost and brand loyalty for free (Jones C. W. , 2013). Compare and contrast the approach to strategic planning that each company has pursued in order to achieve a competitive advantage. Focus specifically on both intended and emergent strategies. Amazon mission states that “Earth’s most customer-centric company”‘ (Jones C. W. , 201 3) for three customers groups is consumer customer, seller customer and developer customer.
They are a technology company that their expertise is to sell more goods of services that will satisfy the customers and have the profit growing. Bozos is a very hand – on and he works long hours and works with his employees to find solutions to any problem. Amazon has used an opportunity to host other companies for a fee (Jones C. W. , 2013). Yahoo generates revenues by renting advertising space on their web page. Yahoo hired marketing experts to strengthen the company’s advertising function. The two founders took responsibility to improve the search engine.
To increase the reach and usefulness they hired more software engineers. There are three product divisions that Yahoo is focusing on one is to find better ways to to service the need of the advertiser, to satisfy the need of the website users and develop new technology Cones C. W. , 2013). Analyze the manner in which each compass distinctive competencies help to shape the strategies that each company pursues. Provide a rationale to support the response. Amazon began to sell books at discount prices. They are continuing to improve the speed of the internet.
So as time went on Amazon worked on growing the business by adding new ventures, like CDC, DVD, Software, Kindle, retail, and grocery. Bozos realized that Amazon IT would be a profitable to go into other countries to sell books. They offer the largest selection of books that have been written, theirs 1. 5 million plus books. Amazon focuses on hiring and retaining talented employees so that they can continue to grow Ones C. W. , 2013). Yahoo started by having a Web portal and organizing websites. As time went on Yahoo acquired the internet shopping portal and they continue to develop it technology.
Yahoo continue to introduce new online service, they worked very hard to stay on top. The founder of Yahoo Jerry Yang he worked on streamlining the company by proportioning the companies that they are working with and advertising competences. He reduces the workforce to cut cost (Jones C. W. , 2013). Recommend one (1 ) functional level strategy for each company which prescribes the essential ways in which each may achieve superior efficiency, quality, innovation, and customer responsiveness. Provide a rationale to support the response. Amazon is doing well but they have to which out for the competitors.
So the functional strategy that I feel would be of great use is the marketing strategy because of the internet being so competitive it is very important to have a good marketing team. With both companies they have to be on top of their IT team and have the update technology Cones C. W. , 2013). Yahoo need to keep up with the change in time. When they first stated they were the leaders in the internet world and their revenues are dropping. There are several things that they need to work on like marketing, financial, and human resources. So the strategies that I feel that Yahoo need are research and development, marketing,
Writing Assignment 1984
Over the past couple of years organizations have been identifying the link of HARM with organizational treated in order to develop a strategic approach to HARM and to also offer an understanding of how single country or domestic human resource management practices can contribute to organizational performance by leveraging people’s capabilities (e. G. Schuler, et al. , 1993). In order to understand which activities change when HARM goes international, we have to define IHRAM first. Broadly speaking, the consensus is that IHRAM is about the worldwide management of human resources (Brewster, 2002).
In other words, the purpose of IHRAM is to enable the multinational enterprise (MEN) to be successful on a global level. Strategic international human resource management (SHIRR) focuses on strategic HARM in Mines and recognizes the importance of linking HARM with organizational strategies in order to achieve sustainable competitive advantage (Schuler & Torque, 2007:718). 2. Examine two (2) of the factors that drive standardization of HARM practices. Determine whether or not it is advantageous for an MEN to adopt a worldwide corporate culture for each of its subsidiaries.
The two factors that drive standardization of HARM practices are having a multinational or transnational corporate strategy and also have an organizational Truckee that is reinforced by a shared worldwide corporate culture (Dowling et al 2013). A multinational strategy is when a firm’s subsidiaries is in the foreign countries enjoying strong local autonomy of business decision-making. Transnational strategy enables the firm to simultaneously achieve local flexibility while rapidly absorbing and differing parent company’s innovations.
Transnational strategy implies seeking global integration, operational efficiency and performance on a continuous basis. 3. Examine the role of the subsidiary. Compare and contrast global innovators, the integrated player, implementers, and local innovators as subsidiaries. Determine the best role for a company that is just beginning to expand internationally. Provide a rationale for your response. Now will examine the role of the subsidiary. A subsidiary is the reflection of purchase of a controlling interest that differs from a merger and the parent corporation.
It can acquire the controlling interest with a smaller investment. Additionally, stockholder approval is not required in the formation of a subsidiary as it would be in the event of a merger. The subsidiary role specifies the position of a particular unit in relation to the rest of the organization and defines what is expected of it in terms of contribution to the efficiency of the whole MEN (Dowling et al 2013). Subsidiaries can take of different roles. These roles consist of global innovators, the integrated player, the implementers, and the local innovators.
The global innovators role assists with the parent firm and helps develops HARM policies and practices which are then transferred to its overseas subsidiaries. The integrated player creates knowledge but at the same time is the sapient of knowledge flows. The implementers rely on the knowledge from the parent or peer subsidiaries and create a relatively small of amount of knowledge themselves. Lastly, there are the local innovators. These subsidiaries engage in the creation of relevant country and region specific knowledge in all key functional areas.
For a company that is just starting to expand internationally in my opinion the best way to start is the initial stage, export. The benefit of trading internationally has the potential to increase sales and profits that international trade will bring. However, this is significantly influenced by the quality and success of your product. With an expanded market, sales of products will definitely increase if consumers discover how much they need or desire these products and if the company continuously supplies and retains good quality products, innovates and invests in product development when needed. . Analyze two (2) of the factors that drive the localization of HARM practices for an MEN. Determine two (2) advantages of the localization of HARM practices. Localization is the practice of adjusting a product’s functional properties ND characteristics to accommodate the language, culture, political, and legal difference of a foreign market or country. The two factors that drive the localization of HARM practices for an MEN is the cultural environment and the institutional environment.
Institutional environment helps impact the growth of your employees through proper training. Another example of institutional factors which have HARM-radiated effects are the: “scope of labor legislation and its regency of codification, [it] creates new codes of conduct through issues such as ex discrimination, equal pay for equal work, and minimum wages” (Downing et al, 2013). Also, since many companies are already selling abroad, they are looking for ways to expand their international sales, localization helps lead that.
They can do that either by increasing market penetration or by selling to new international regions. Companies should consider localizing products for both. It will give customers in new markets a compelling reason to buy your products and enable a market penetration otherwise unattainable. Another advantage of localization is a there reduced liability and copy infringement. Many countries require that products be sold on their turfs to speak the official local language or languages.
Furthermore, the translation of contracts, agreements, product use agreements, and end-user license agreements will minimize conflicts due to miscommunication or language barriers. 5. Determine the impact of the culture and institutional context (environment) on: a. Recruitment and selection b. Training and development c. Compensation d. Task distribution The impact of the culture and institutional context when it comes to a. Recruitment and selection is the education system. The reputation of the educational institutions such as public and private universities varies in different countries (Dowling, et al 2013).
Recruitment and selection should include procedures directed to analyze the need and purpose of a position, the culture of the institution, and ultimately to select and hire the person that best fits the position. B. Training and development also looking at the education system differs between different countries (existence of a dual vocational training system, quality and reputation of higher education institutions). This will have n effect on the training needs perceived and fulfilled by Mines (Dowling, et al 2013). C.
Compensation, when it comes to legislation as the regulation of minimum wages or respective union agreements. D. Task distribution also pairs up with legislations and the respective norms support gender-based division of labor to differing extent in different countries. However, in other countries the percentage of female managers is relatively high; in other countries it is not common at all (Dowling, et al 2013).
