Domestic Difficulties Influence On Early Sexual Debut Sample Assignment

Introduction

The periodical that I have chosen for my abstract submission is called the International Journal of Research in Nursing. It is a peer-reviewed nursing journal providing the new authors with the possibility to extend the knowledge about the modern approaches to nursing practice. It encourages new authors to submit their abstracts describing their original research. The topics of the articles published in the journal are quite diverse as it enriches the knowledge concerning both theoretical and practical aspects of nursing (International Journal of Research in Nursing, 2016). My project that is called Domestic Difficulties as a Factor Influencing Early Sexual Debut of Teenage Girls will be relevant for the journal.

The periodical recommends new authors review the guidelines for writing an abstract before submitting their works. The process of manuscript preparation and submission is described in great detail. The abstract should contain the problem statement, methods of research, and the list of main findings (Manuscript Preparation, 2016). The main requirements state that the abstract should be short but informative. The results can be represented with help of tables, graphs, and diagrams.

Abstract

Regarding the guidelines that were mentioned above, the abstract was composed accordingly.

Project title: Domestic Difficulties as a Factor Influencing Early Sexual Debut of Teenage Girls.

Problem statement: Teenagers’ relationships with their parents belong to several factors that influence their relationships with people of the opposite sex. Nowadays, it is not clear if domestic difficulties belong to the primary reasons that make girls have earlier initiation of sex. Establishing the connection between difficulties in relationships with parents and an earlier sexual debut is the problem touched upon in the present research.

The purpose of the present research project is to find out the correlation between teenage girls’ sexual activity and their domestic difficulties.

The research aims to enrich the knowledge about the approaches that can be used during the work with troubled teenagers. To reach the goal, the following objectives should be accomplished: exploring the way that domestic difficulties influence teenage girls’ relationships with boys, and interviewing them about the reasons for their early sexual initiation.

Question: Do problems with parents belong to the primary reasons for teenage girls’ early sexual debut?

Hypothesis: Domestic difficulties cause early initiation of the sex of many girls. Being deprived of parental love and attention, many teenage girls try to offset the lack of trust in their parents by having romantic relationships with boys.

Methodology: Mixed methods were used during the present research. Female students of the high schools were surveyed confidentially about the age of their sexual debut. Those who chose the age of 13-15 years were further asked to analyze the factors that influenced their decision to start having sexual relationships.

Implementation steps: 250 female students of high schools from 16 to 18 years old were surveyed; 74 of them reported to have had a sexual debut at the age of 13-15 years old. Then, these girls were proposed to reveal the main reason for such an early experience.

Results: The analysis of the answers revealed that the majority (44%) of girls attributed their early sexual experience to the lack of parental love and the desire to pay back their parents for their inattentiveness; 33% attributed it to their curiosity and inadvertence, and 23% claimed it to have been caused by their deep emotional attachment to a partner.

Conclusion: The initial hypothesis of the research was affirmed. By the results, the majority of girls who had early sexual debut believe it to have been influenced by strained relationships with their parents.

Relevance to clinical practice

The research can be helpful for the practitioners working with troubled female teenagers as it proves that the reason teenagers’ indiscreet behavior is connected to domestic difficulties.

“Hot Pepper” A Movie By Les Blank

Summary of the Video

The movie Hot Pepper tells the story of Clifton Chenier who was a representative of such a musical genre as Zydeco. The viewers can learn about the sources of his inspiration, especially the culture of urban and rural Louisiana. Furthermore, the authors of this film explore the importance of his family for his career, and his first steps as a performer (Blank, 1973). Overall, one can argue that this film can tell much about Zydeco, it is development, and the role of a person who made this style popular.

Clifton Chenier was born to a family in which music occupied a very important position. According to this film, his parents and siblings used to play various musical instruments (Blank, 1973). To a great extent, these people encouraged Chenier to choose the career of a musician. It should be taken into account Clifton Chenier played accordion, and he was able to incorporate different styles such as R&B or blues. However, he strongly relied on Creole musical tradition which was developed in the nineteenth century.

So, he created an interesting blend of different genres. One should keep in mind that the film Hot Pepper incorporates excerpts from many of his performances in various settings. The viewers can sense the atmosphere that Clifton Chenier was able to create during his concerts. Apart from that, this movie shows how this musician performed his compositions with the members of his family and the way in which they interacted with one another. This is one of the reasons why this film is worth seeing.

Apart from that, this film features interviews with several relatives of this famous musician. For example, one can learn about the life of his grandmother or his uncle (Blank, 1973). Their narratives are important for understanding the life and career of Clifton Chenier. One of the details that attract attention is the videos of the Louisiana countryside accompanied by the songs of Chenier (Blank, 1973). One can argue that these videos produce an indelible impression on the viewers. Overall, this movie is both informative and engaging because it gives in-depth insights into the atmosphere of that period and highlights the remarkable achievements of Clifton Chenier and his life.

Discussion of specific musical peace

This movie contains several songs that earned Clifton Chenier almost enormous recognition. In particular, one can mention such a composition as I’m coming home. This song exemplifies a great number of techniques that Chenier used during his performances. For example, one can speak about the incorporation of such an instrument as a vest frottoir (Blank, 1973). It should be mentioned that the use of frottoir was typical among many representatives of Zydeco.

To a great extent, it was developed from a washboard which was used by many performers of Creole music. During the concert, Chenier was able to incorporate this washboard into his performance. One can say that it helps to create a particular rhythm that makes this song very danceable. Additionally, it is possible to mention that Clifton Chenier could refine his song by adding guitars that made this musical peace more melodic. More importantly, Clifton Chenier demonstrated that accordion could produce new melodies that can engage the listeners (Blank, 1973). These are the main peculiarities of this composition.

Overall, this song has greatly appealed to me because it shows how a musician can reconcile traditional folk music with more elaborate styles. Moreover, the lyrics of Clifton Chenier have been able to render his devotion to home and the countryside of Louisiana (Blank, 1973). The effect produced by this composition is intensified by the images of the place where the author grew up. These are some of the main aspects that one can identify while discussing this composition. It is a great example of the Zydeco style.

Apart from that, I would like to focus on the piece called I’m a hog for you, baby. This composition also involves some of the main techniques that Clifton Chenier. Again, one can mention the extensive use of vest frottoir which substitutes other percussion instruments.

Additionally, the use of guitars helps the musicians create a more elaborate melody. Apart from that, this song highlights the Creole background of Clifton Chenier. In particular, the lyrics of this song include passages in the Creole language. So, one can say that this composition can appeal to a great number of people. This musical piece can be attributed to the period when Chenier became a mature performer who had already achieved critical acclaim and recognition of other musicians.

On the whole, these songs are important because they show that Clifton Chenier succeeded to develop a new style. It was a curious blend of Creole music as well as other styles that were emerging during that period. This composition is important for understanding the techniques that this performer used very often. In turn, the movie Hot Pepper can illustrate the importance of Clifton Chenier for the evolution of Zydeco.

Team Problems And Tips For Solving Them

Team relationships

The first advice I would offer Sally is to make her expectations known to Tony because Tony does not seem to know fully what Sally expects from him. Doing so would make Tony work towards meeting those expectations. Secondly, Sally should build a relationship with him as one of her subordinates. She seems to lack this trait when she harshly tells him to grow up. Building a relationship with subordinates makes them feel useful in an organization (Dubrin, 2010, p.108). Thirdly, she should identify and inform Tony about the areas she feels that he should improve. Consequently, Tony would emphasize those areas to achieve the desired results. Fourthly, Sally should be empathetic and emotionally supportive of Tony. Her interaction with Tony at the initial stage of their conversation reveals that she lacks empathy. When Tony explains his financial problem to her, she does not put herself in his shoes but simply tells him to grow up. She even adds that Tony knew very well about his salary situation when he took the job implying that he is to blame for his problems. Fifthly, Sally should gently advise Tony. Most of the responses she gives to Tony’s lamentations about salary are harsh. In one instance, she tells him to do something good or be gone. If Sally followed all the above advice, she would achieve a high degree of motivation and qualify as a good coach. This is what the expectancy theory of motivation requires effective leaders.

Active listening

The advice I would offer Tony Costello to get more out of the coaching session is to be an active listener. Being an active listener would not only improve the communication atmosphere between the two parties but also enhance information transfer (Shackleton, 1995, p.39). As a result, he would be able to get what Sally expects from him and work towards meeting those expectations. According to equity theory, this action by Tony would guarantee him of becoming a motivated worker.

Motivation to work

The most positive thing that Sally did as a coach was her acceptance to meet Tony to discuss the problems he faces. Since she was under pressure for the mortgage department to place more mortgages, her acceptance of Tony’s appointment also serves as an opportunity for her to motivate him to work harder and place more mortgages. Her decision to give Tony an audience further shows that she has concerns about his welfare as one of her junior workers. It was a good step towards solving Tony’s problems for the common good of both himself and the bank. This would set a good platform for Sally to analyze Tony’s situation and make him know what she expects from him. According to equity theory, Sally’s move would serve as a source of motivation for Tony.

Salary problems

The most negative thing that Sally did, as a coach was her failure to show empathy and emotional contact with Tony over his salary problems and the negative consequences his problems were causing on his family. Tony booked an appointment with her with the motive of solving his salary-related problems. However, when he first explains the problems to her, she does not feel emphatic; she only tells him to grow up, implying that he is childish. Sally’s statement reveals her character as harsh and lacking empathy. When Tony explains the brutality, he faces when trying to place mortgages and the disappointments from the approval committee, Sally reacts by telling him to wake up, a reaction least expected from her. Sally should have instead been more emphatic and gentle in her reaction to Tony’s problem. Her reaction is not professional and people should discourage this in the job area because it goes against work ethics. Also, it serves to demotivate workers since it contravenes the expectancy theory of motivation.
