Observation is a skill that requires practice in various fields such as acting, directing, writing or other complex skill-sets. We are always engaged in observing and perceiving things both figuratively and literally on our path. We identify our preferences and dislikes and act accordingly to obtain or avoid them. When we discuss observation as an evaluation method, it can be referred to as “formal observation,” “field observation,” or “qualitative observation.” In these cases, the purpose of our observation is to collect data that may or may not support a hypothesis.

The scenario involves observing a class of students as they create performance pieces. The aim of the class is for students to work together and successfully accomplish a task. As observers, we may wonder how we can identify if students are genuinely collaborating or what behaviors would indicate their collaboration. To uncover this information, we take a silent position at the back of the classroom and actively and passively document our observations. However, there’s a twist…

Observational data is meant to describe the observed setting, activities, and participants rather than critique them. However, our personal experiences and biases can impact our observations by causing us to favor certain approaches and overlook different ways of engagement. Additionally, we may become bored or distracted during the observation, losing sight of its purpose and letting our minds wander elsewhere.

Don’t fret if you believe you’re lacking something. It’s simply impossible to observe everything. Dedicate some time to scan the room for general activity, then concentrate on certain students or elements for a few minutes. During the session, make a point to take notes to the best of your ability and expand on them right after. The most important aspect is for the observer to have a clear purpose and a couple of questions that they aim to answer through their observations. Typically, becoming an elementary teacher entails obtaining a bachelor’s degree from an elementary education program. Such programs focus on instructing you on the psychology of young minds and their development. You gain knowledge on utilizing technology in the classroom and assessing student advancement.

In an elementary education program, individuals acquire knowledge in multiple subjects including reading, math, and art. This knowledge is subsequently used to design courses and develop teaching materials. During the student teaching phase, participants have the opportunity to apply this information and explore their own ideas. Some programs provide the option to specialize in a specific subject area, such as math, allowing for a concentrated focus on teaching mathematical skills to children. The main goal of elementary education programs is to prepare individuals for instructing students from grades one through eight.

Programs for middle school education aim to prepare individuals as teachers for students in grades four through nine, regardless of whether they attend public or private schools. Many colleges and universities offer specialized programs in elementary teacher education, which enable students to obtain a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in addition to a postbaccalaureate certificate. Typically, completing a bachelor’s degree requires approximately four years of full-time study after high school, while graduate degrees generally take two to five years to complete after obtaining a bachelor’s degree.

Is It Okay For Children To Compete In Beauty Pageants?

Do you think it is okay for children to compete in beauty pageants? Do you want your child to be like Honey Boo Boo? Yes? No? Then understand my three opposing resons for the participation of young children in beauty pageants. Reason number one, some parents don’t prepare their kids for pageants well enough,so little girls don’t really know what to expect when they lose. Reason number two, Child pageants are also time consuming, and may take up time for a kid to play and whatnot.

Last reason, number three, pageants can be really expensive, with the cost of the supplies and accessories “needed”. Going back to my first reason or, argument. Parents may not be so qualified to coach their children to understand what it is like If they don’t win, they might take it personally and get hurt feelings. The child could end up feeling unattractive or “defective” in some way, because to a child, how exaactly are they supposed to know it doesn’t mean anything, and that they don’t win an actual title.

Pageant parents can possibly be pushy, and after pushing their child without bringing up a winner, that child could feel as if they’d ‘let down” their parents. My second argument was that child beauty pageants are very time consuming. To be competitive in the larger pageants, “contestants” have to spend hours practicing their smile, their walk, their turns and etc; Not only do kids spend time rehearsing their act, but because of all the time they use, they also lose that time of having a normal childhood. his can effect the child probably more than te thought of them losing, because with them not having that childhood, they could possibly feel deprived of being a so called “normal kid” and that can affect the persona they have in the future. My third and final argument, expence.

Pageants are very expencive. the entrance fee is only the begining. Whether you’re buying a specially made dress, or making one yourself, the amount of money you spend is what you notice by the end of ONE pageant. It is not just clothing that is costly. t is the items bought to enhance the look of a child; fake teeth, fake tan, fake hair, etc. why enter a beautiful child in a pageant when they come out looking fake and after it’s over, they get used to the make up and the adittude of a usual pageant contender. Children who enter beauty pageants, offten get hurt, emotionally, they often spend so much time not having a normal childhood, and their needed supplies often cost incredible amounts of money. Now I ask again, Do you think it is okay for young children to compete in beauty pageants?

Homeschool Versus Public School

Homeschooling can give a more positive, direct, focused education than public schools. Public schools are better in other ways like social interaction. Homeschool Versus Public School Public school is a place where children are able to gain an education and form social bonds with other children and their teachers. Public school offers students access to qualified teachers who are equipped to answer most questions and deal with a great many situations in a professional manner. Public institutions offer an environment of scheduled learning and a school chosen curriculum.

Another positive thing that can be said for public schools is that they are prepared to deal with students who display special needs, such as: ones who are physically, socially, or emotionally handicapped (“Educationbug”). Public school provides the much needed environment of learning with time set aside for each subject, and specially trained teachers for certain subjects. Public schools offer more curriculum opportunities for students while giving them a more diverse social education. Teachers in public schools are required to have specific credentials.

A major benefit for children in public schools is that they learn how to deal with real world situations that force them to effectively learn how to problem solve with their peers. They learn to read, write, and do math with distractions that one normally encounters in every-day life. Public school children learn through relationships rather than individual experiences. Students in public school are often better socialized than their homeschooled peers. Many people feel like children educated in the public school system are better prepared for college life when they graduate.

There are a great many reasons why parents choose to educate their children through the public school system. On the other hand, homeschooling is becoming more popular nationwide. Parents who choose homeschooling prefer the one-on-one attention their children receive while learning. They also appreciate the opportunity to incorporate religion into their children’s daily education. Parents of homeschoolers prefer the safer, less violent learning environment their home offers compared to the public school system.

Parents who decide to homeschool are not forced to compromise their values and morals when it comes to sex education (“Conservativefront”). Many parents teach their children that abstinence is the right choice. These parents do not appreciate being undermined by the public school system teaching their children the virtues of safe sex. It is a great relief to parents of homeschoolers that their children’s chances of being exposed to drugs, alcohol, and nicotine are virtually nonexistent.

Parents who homeschool their children are better able to decide who their kids socialize with, rather than being forced to let them socialize with children from questionable families who do not have the same values. Homeschooling is a great way to keep one’s children shielded from the harsh realities of today’s world, at least temporarily. Students who are homeschooled are not forced to learn in overcrowded classrooms with one teacher trying to do his or her best. They are able to move at a pace that suits them, with their parent’s attention usually available when needed (“Homeschooling”).

Students who are homeschooled have the advantage of learning from a curriculum that their parents have chosen specifically for them, rather than one that was picked by someone who doesn’t even know them and is expected to meet the needs of thousands. I have personal experience with both homeschooling and public school with my daughter. While she is currently enrolled in a local public school, I personally preferred the many options we had available as homeschoolers. I was forced to place my daughter back in public school when I decided to become a full time student at Indian Hills Community College.

As a widow, I found myself having to make some tough decisions about my future. Since I only possessed a high school diploma, my employment options were severely limited. I feel like I made the sensible choice by enrolling myself in college. However, the time I spent teaching my daughter at home was time well spent. I was able to watch my daughter blossom away from the distractions of other children. She enjoyed having my undivided attention and I enjoyed being able to choose a Christian based curriculum for her education.

I was able to tailor each lesson to suit my daughter and there was no one forcing us to move on when we felt like she needed extra time with something. This personalized way of educating her caused my daughter’s Iowa Basic Test Skills scores to sky-rocket. This made us both proud and gave us a great sense of accomplishment. As for socialization, we enrolled in our local homeschool program that works with the public schools in order to encourage interaction with other homeschooling families.

We were able to meet weekly for the kids to participate in physical education classes together at the county parks, there were monthly classes offered by a certified teacher that focused on financial education for the children to use later in life, and there were many picnics and field trips. I can’t even begin to express the amount of bonding that took place between me and my daughter. We have always been extremely close, but the experience of homeschooling was a very positive one for us. I would recommend it to anyone.
