C]let must be performed by an agent who decides willfully to perform the CT. Extrinsic and Intrinsic Evil Intrinsic implies a quality inherent in a thing. Thus, intrinsic evil is an act which is evil by its nature that is , by functional purpose, is wrongful. Examples: stealing, murder, robbery, rape lies, and slavery. Extrinsic implies a quality which IS superficially added to a thing.

Thus, an extrinsic evil is an act which in itself is not evil but is made evil nonetheless on account something else. Example: drinking liquor is extrinsically evil when done in excess. Immutability of Human Acts A human act is done by a person who is in control Of his faculties: intellect and will. In his sense, a person like the captain of a ship who assumes full responsibility and accountability for his decisions. The immutability of a human act means that the person performing the act is liable for such an act. It involves the notion of guilt or innocence.

Sanctions and Penalties Immutability implies that the doer is either deserving of reward or punishment. This is a basic requirement of justice. The penal laws of our country provide for a system of punishment for crimes, ranging from simple fines to imprisonment. The capital punishment, that is, death penalty , is reserved for “heinous crimes”. The Bible, however, speaks Of death as the punishment for “sins”. Though the Old Testament interpret this as death by execution, it refers more to the spiritual death suffering.

A form of spiritual death is the loss Of peace of mind, the only genuine happiness possible in this life. Indeed, many of the human sufferings we see and experience are the direct results of immoral situations. For example, an immoral person risks losing his honor, his job, and his family. He also runs the risk of being ostracizes (ignored). On the other hand, the world looks up to a man of integrity. Peace, contentment, and honor are but some of the rewards coming to an upright person. Voluntaries comes from the Latin word ” voluntary” , referring to the Will. Voluntaries is essential to an act.

Public Speaking Practice And Ethics

It is the perfect balance. The continuous laughter and flow of the class makes everybody want to be there, pay attention and surprisingly enjoy each class. Another aspect that strengthens the class is the unity of the class. Everyone is friendly with each other. Not only do we all know each other’s names but everyone’s nickname. This is very important because this helps tremendously with people feeling more comfortable about giving a speech in front of the class and not being as nervous. I believe there has been improvement in everyone from the first speech to the second.

After watching classmates speak, it is the best way to realize things you should or shouldn’t do. Things like visuals, tone of voice, timing, stance, gestures, etc. For example, when someone says “um” a lot or sways back and forth, you make a note in your head not to do the same. Responding to the speeches is also beneficial so you can remember what to do or not to do next time. I have learned many great aspects about public speaking and how to give a great speech. My career after graduate is teaching and I have learned many mints that will help me every day in my future.

Something I never thought about prior to this class is the importance of visuals. Will remember to use visuals and make it appropriate for the age of children will be teaching. I am happy I was required to take this class. It is a general requirement that actually makes sense with my major. So far through out this class some of the things I learned about giving a speech is to try not to do anything distracting while speaking, the significance of using assistants, the importance of visuals and to make visuals easy to read ND limit words to one or two lines.

It is vital have a grabbing opening and closing to a speech to make it more interesting and to make the audience listen. I’ve also learned to make eye contact with everyone and to avoid looking at notepads or the screen. It is significant to vary the tone of voice and use gestures. These are just some of the points I’ve learned to do while giving a speech to keep the audience captivated and involved. I am excited to finish Communications 131 this semester. It is not only a learning environment but also a social, humorous, and entertaining class.

The Chrysalids By John Wyndham

What this means is that the community of Want tries their est. to strictly apply the word of god. As a result anyone that has something special with them such as an extra limb, the community punishes them for it and sends them away to the fringes where the rest of the ‘deviations’ go. An example Of this is when Sophie escapes to live a free life in the fringes because she has an extra limb, if she didn’t escape she would have been punished or killed by the community. This main theme in the Chrysalis relates to the Holocaust.

The reason why I believe this is because I learned that Hitler and all of the NAZIs thought the Jews were a weak race of people ND that they needed to be eliminated from the world, just like Want thought the deviations were a disgrace to mankind and had to be eliminated. Hitler then sent all the Jews to concentration camps where they were worked until death. This relates to the fringes. Many Jews tried to escape to safer countries to avoid the punishment of the Nazis.

This is how I related the theme in the Chrysalis to something I have learned that happened in our history. The Rwanda genocide, which took place from the asses to the early asses is another event which believe relates to the main theme of the Chrysalis. The Rwanda genocide was a civil war that was based upon the Tutsis minority and the Hut majority. The Hut majority believed that they were the superior group and decided to attempt to kill every Tutsis there was in Rwanda.

This caused major destruction and many fatalities. I believe this relates to the Chrysalis because there were two groups of people, the deviations and people that are in the image of god. The people of Want all believe the deviations are all mutants and are not in the image of god. This causes them to become very strict and paranoid of deviation. They believe hat they should all die to keep the world a better place. Another genocide that think relates to the main theme in the Chrysalis.

Those are two historic events and genocides that I truly believe relates to the main theme in John Handsaws the Chrysalis. These acts of these people in the book and in events that have learned about cause discrimination and destruction of mankind and I very hope that these events do not come across very often in our future. I think it’s crazy to think that humans can judge other humans because Of unique things they have either physically or mentally.
