Introduction

Social media has become a significant part of today’s youth and is one of the newest inventions to hit the human race. It plays a significant role in influencing young minds, it is utilized by many people as a site to communicate with friends and family, but it also has disadvantages that are not beneficial for everyone. User-generated content, connectivity, and interactivity are the defining characteristics of this medium. The use of this media has become a daily requirement in today’s culture. This is because it is primarily utilized for decision-making, news information access, and social interaction, a valuable tool for sharing, creating, and disseminating information and influencing marketing conclusions. Additionally, in an interview, three individuals stated that it can affect consumers’ purchasing decisions through reviews, advertising, and marketing strategies. In essence, these interviewees stated that it significantly impacts one’s capacity for communication, the development of relationships, information access, and dissemination.

Discussion

The first individual stated that it is essential because it influences the capacity of individuals to communicate in society. It is crucial because it affects human capacity through the information content and how individuals communicate. Communication is one of the fundamentals of achieving social interaction. The media significantly influences human development and enables people to connect with others through social interaction (Kahne et al. 474). It is noted that it has an influential role in today’s society because it creates more opportunities for interaction among people. Compared to traditional forms of news, the platform plays a significant role because it is effortless to access information that will be useful to society. This medium allows people to share stories, photos, videos, and information about their daily lives all over the world at any time and place, making communication easier.

The third interviewee stated that it has helped foster the development of relationships among individuals in society. Through it, people have established a podium to interact with others in society. Additionally, through this medium, people can connect with others by sharing ideas and thoughts. The person stated that it has influenced social interaction in today’s culture (Kahne et al. 474). There are many historical examples where it was discovered that some individuals were able to meet their significant partners through that podium. Through this platform, it was easier for them to communicate and establish relationships with each other, unlike the traditional methods of meeting people where people have to go through different communication channels such as face-to-face interaction for one to be able to interact with others.

In the interview about the significance of social media, the interviewee stated that critical issues were communication and learning. The participants discussed this subject that it helps to communicate and interact with different people through various ways like texting, video calling, instant messaging, and other apps. Through this technology, people can share with anyone worldwide at any time of the day in just a matter of seconds or minutes. This is important because an individual can interact with people from different countries, and it makes them better understand the culture of others. One can also learn a lot from this type of communication because they mostly learn more about other people’s lives and cultures. This technology helped me to have a deeper understanding of what it was like to live in a different society. Hence the importance of the platform is its ability to establish relationships through entertaining content, and communication, among others.

How the Pandemic has Impacted Our Entire Culture

The pandemic has impacted our entire shared culture by affecting how individuals interact with each other. Since the attack by the pandemic, it has become difficult to share cultures, such as storytelling, music, and dance. For instance, cultural practices that include physical and direct eye contact, such as hugging, kissing, shaking hands, or holding hands, are considered high-risk activities. Therefore, people have become very anxious about their interaction and their lives (Alzueta et al. 560). This way, it has become difficult for people from diverse countries to travel to other countries to shoot videos or entertain them due to the strict pandemic laws.

The pandemic has influenced learned culture by limiting the rate of carrying them out. Leaned cultures are developed by individuals living together and performing similar tasks. In this process, there are a lot of learned behaviors that have changed from their initial one to another. Examples of learned culture include giving parents birthday cards and having fun (Alzueta et al. 560). The pandemic has negatively impacted these cultures and has made it difficult for people to perform these cultural practices because handing over Physical objects such as cards is not encouraged. People, therefore, prefer celebrating birthdays virtually, and instead of sending cards, they post them on various podia.

The pandemic has affected the symbolic cultures of society by restricting the number of spectators in various sports. Symbolic cultures are developed when there is a development of symbols, objects, signs, and symbols for the members of society. In symbolic cultures, the community plays different games, including recreational activities and sports. One distinct feature of this kind of culture is that it is usually altered with time as other rules are applied to the game by people (Alzueta et al. 560). The pandemic has restricted spectators from participating in various games, including basketball, soccer, musicals, and dance, making it difficult for some individuals to enjoy these games. For example, watching soccer matches has become one of the best sources of entertainment for individuals who like watching live matches while listening to cheers from the crowd or other fans.

The pandemic has influenced dynamic cultures by changing how people communicate and interact. Vibrant culture provides a unique way of communication between members of society. This culture is based on the style in which people communicate and interact with each other. People usually carry out this culture in different workspaces and within other domains such as education, work, politics, and human rights (Alzueta et al. 560). The way people communicate at their workplaces is usually different from how they communicate with each other at home. The pandemic has transformed into a great challenge for the very existence of human beings by causing significant changes in the social interactions and patterns of individuals. The pandemic has made it difficult for people to go out and work and perform other activities because of its restrictions.

Conclusion

The pandemic has impacted integrated culture by introducing a new way of life, such as restricting the population that can access religious buildings. Integrated cultures are usually found in all the domains of life. One of the most important features of integrated culture is that it brings people from all walks of life together in a single entity (Alzueta et al. 560). Examples of integrated cultures include marriage which unites people from different backgrounds, religions, or social classes into a single union. The pandemic has impacted integrated culture by restricting the number of people allowed in these places hence interfering with worship.

The Act represents a solid and, more importantly, the legal basis for human rights and health care. However, during the last several years, some political parties (Trump Administration) challenged the existence of this particular law. For example, in 2021, the Supreme Court had to face the necessity of examining the constitutionality of the ACA (Keith, 2021). The case California v. Texas ended with the decision not to change the law due to no apparent injuries or threats (Keith, 2021). Therefore, the goals of Section 1557, as well as those of the ACA, are legal in terms of protection against discrimination in health programs.

Just and Democratic Characteristics of the Policy’s Goals

Promoting just and democratic health care is one of the major goals of the US government. For example, the representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) continue enhancing democratic governance and human rights to remove rampant corruption and disinformation and support just and stable conditions for the population (Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance, 2021). Similar elements can be found in Section 1557, which aims to prohibit discrimination on race, gender, national origin, and disability and use clear information to support American citizens. Addressing the issues of human rights and social or economic justice, most Americans cannot get rid of the idea that most of them live in poverty. The facts like 16% of children, 25% of disabled, 20% of Blacks, and 17% of Hispanics who are below the poverty line cannot be ignored (Pierson, 2019). As a result, multiple attempts to struggle against social and economic inequality are made to organize fair interpersonal relationships and services. The goals of Section 1557 cover the importance of equal treatment to the representatives of all minority groups, which contributes to the protection of fundamental human rights and the creation of a secure and stable environment. The number of uninsured citizens in the country will definitely increase without Section 1557, provoking new economic burdens. The policy helps people of all races and genders use preventive services and cooperate with healthcare providers without thinking about their financial problems at the moment when their health is damaged. Such contributions to human rights and social or economic justice make Section 1557 a unique and worthy policy for further development.

Quality of life is a way people perceive their position in the world through the prism of existing cultural beliefs, social values, and legal standards. Talking about life quality, it is wrong to focus on some particular issues like health, wealth, or employment. Life means the ability to combine all elements, and health is one of the most integral parts. This concept plays an important role in medicine and health care because it covers different patient groups in terms of care, rehabilitation, pain relief, and overall treatment (Haraldstad et al., 2019). Section 1557 affects understanding demographic differences to offer equal services to all population groups. Thus, it is correct to say that this policy greatly contributes to the quality of life for Americans by determining the conditions under which people live.

The Policy’s Contributions to Social Relations

The debates and the growth of controversial attitudes towards the ACA are not easy to control, but the connection between American states, the federal government, and ordinary citizens is evident. In light of recent events and court decisions, some proposals to amend the ACA policy reform have been developed, and new ideas are constantly observed in modern discussion. In 2022, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) introduced a new rule to interpret Section 1557 and strengthen nondiscrimination conditions (Keith, 2022). Since its introduction in 2010 and the 2016 rule, including sex stereotyping and gender identity, Section 1557 has undergone multiple evaluations based on the concerns raised by the Trump administration. In 2016, the proposal included the issues of gender expression and transgender status. Now, the goal is to change the policy by reapplying to third-party administrators, extending it to more healthcare providers, and interpreting the ban on sex discrimination (Keith, 2022). The improvements should clarify the impact of marital/family/parental status and remove the application of discriminatory clinical algorithms among healthcare providers in decision-making and telehealth services (Keith, 2022). The pandemic has increased the development of new technologies to support distant communication and care. Section 1557 should be improved to ensure that all people, including those with disabilities and limited language knowledge, obtain information and services on equal grounds.

The Impact of Political, Social, and Economic Forces

The current proposals have reasons to be offered and discussed at the state and national levels. The main political force is the contradictions between the representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties. The Trump era was associated with a desire to rewrite the Obama-era regulation during the last several years (Keith, 2022). The necessity of cutting federal support for cheap healthcare services divided politicians into several groups, provoking new debates and litigation processes. Section 1557 is associated with certain economic effects because ACA-based insurance protects people against financial consequences and increases the ability to afford high-quality care at the government’s expense (Campbell & Shore-Sheppard, 2020). However, the number of unpaid bills is not easy to control. In 2022, the rule was improved in terms of gender-affirming care. Discrimination continues gaining a new meaning, and more categories emerge, shaping care standards. Promoting social freedoms and equal care becomes a serious force for Section 1557 proposals.

Enactment of Proposals

The HHS issued the latest proposal to Section 1557 in the summer of 2022. During October 2022, HHS representatives should gather and analyze public comments about the rule to ensure that sex stereotypes, characteristics, and orientation are properly related to sex discrimination (Nsien, 2022). As soon as a final rule is created, the government will need 60 days to implement the regulation officially. Then, all health insurance marketplaces and organizations under HHS must apply the proposed rule and develop improved policies. It is planned to hire a policy coordinator to examine administrative changes and enhance compliance (Nsien, 2022). Past proposals published in 2016 (pregnancy termination and gender identity) and 2020 (discrimination definition based on sex) prove that some rules may be immediately enacted while others can be sustained. Still, the 2022 proposal has already been announced, while not enacted. More time and evaluation are required to take the last legal steps and strengthen the issue of nondiscrimination in health care.

Proposals’ Outcomes: Intended and Unintended

Certain intended and unintended consequences of the policy may be related to the recently offered proposals. One of the major expected outcomes is the introduction of an expansive definition of discrimination on the basis of sex (Keith, 2022). Three lawsuits were reported in different states during the last several years, proving that discriminating activities affect healthcare quality. The interpretation of Section 1557 is associated with certain concerns because people need more clarity on how to protect transgender youth or offer gender-affirming care. The reduction of mental health problems and emotional breakdowns should be observed. Unintended elements are based on public opinions and the level of definitions’ clarity. At this moment, no legal challenges are associated with the proposal.

Conclusion

Vulnerable populations expect to get high-quality protection from the government to cover their basic needs and use care services equally with other citizens. In the United States, the number of individuals in the vulnerable population has decreased under Section 1557 of the ACA (Campbell & Shore-Sheppard, 2020). However, controversies related to gender identity and misunderstandings in judgments are not easy to regulate. Thus, diverse populations need additional proposals to demonstrate their interests and choose their lifestyles without biased judgments. The proposal for the chosen policy will directly impact diverse and vulnerable populations who need protection and safety guarantees. Including new definitions of gender identity will allow them to apply for equal care without answering inconvenient or inappropriate questions or facing critical and usually negative looks in healthcare facilities.

The idea of working from home is one of the greatest innovations in any industry. The COVID-19 pandemic taught the world that organizations could continue to function by working remotely. It is thus essential for employers to consider mechanisms that allow their staff to work from home permanently (Goldstein, 2017). During the pandemic, remote working or working from home improved efficiency in communication between employees and their company using various project management solutions. Companies can use multiple technological solutions that ensure all the communication, files, and approvals are easily accessible to eliminate time lost through the needless taxing processes and email chains. Working from home has seen improved collaboration with customer profiles, and employees can now update reports on a real-time basis. Working from home also improved productivity, where telecommuting employees were proven more productive than their counterparts. As much as one might be close to their family, there are few social interruptions. Employees can take necessary breaks when required, which helps in overall performance, creativity, and motivation (Schmitt, 2012).

In terms of work culture, companies may end up with two types of culture. One is based on remote office culture using digital tools. The other is based on physical interaction, especially when employees must be physically present at work, similar to those in the manufacturing, construction and production industries. Companies will also have to learn to integrate these two types of working styles by considering employees scope of work. Organizations will need to incorporate new technologies that make it easy for employees to connect, interact and deliver according to their job requirements, in order to take the most out of both the technologies and the employee’s potential.
