The “M.A.S.H” Movie By Robert Altman Sample Assignment

The movie M.A.S.H (Robert Altman, 1970), the scenario of which was written in accordance with the eponymous book of Richard Hooker, is a 1970 American satire military film. The movie is the only feature picture of the M.A.S.H series to be released in theaters, and it was one of Twentieth Century Fox’s popular pictures in the early 1970s. M.A.S.H became a successful film that described the conditions associated with the war and influenced the people of its time.

The video features a group of medical staff positioned in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) during the Korean War. Even though the plot is centered following the actions of the Korean War, the underlying concept is the Vietnam War, which was a major issue at the time this story was filmed (M.A.S.H). Ideas about warfare generate practical jokes, and the main characters are both motivated and heartless. They smuggle a recorder beneath Major Hoolihan’s bed and stream her intimacy to the rest of the camp. In addition, a general is drugged and photographed at a brothel.

As for the success and popularity and social influence on the masses of people, this film has succeeded in all the areas. During the twentieth century, the filmmaking industry had substantial growth in popularity among Americans, and it became a key social influencer (Warren 460). Feature films, especially those directly related to hostilities and war, have a tremendous impact on the human brain and perception of the world (Kuri and Kaufman 53). M.A.S.H gained the Grand Prix at the 1970 Cannes Picture Festival, afterward known as the Palme d’Or. The work was nominated for several Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won Best Adapted Screenplay.

To summarize, M.A.S.H was one of Twentieth Century Fox’s popular military comedy pictures in the early 1970s. The film’s plot is believed to be tough and turns into a war satire, which shows the undisguised life of people associated with military operations. Considering the received awards and the impact of war movies on ordinary people, it can be stated that M.A.S.H was recognized as a successful work that depicted the life conditions during armed battles.

As the title would suggest, “Improving Negotiation Skills” covers a broad range of principles and competencies relevant to successful negotiation. While all of them are practically valuable and applicable to real-life situations, some parts stand out the most. One such part is the point that the article makes early on, noting that everything is negotiable, and negotiations do not stop until a conclusion has been reached (“Negotiations Skills,” 2018). It means that, at the hands of an experienced negotiator, every action, no matter how uncompromising it may seem, can be a negotiation tactic. This is certainly an important fact to keep in mind in future negotiations.

Speaking of future negotiations, the article also covers areas that can merit improvement. In my case, this area would be what the article describes as rule 3.4: planning to make concessions in advance and using t to trigger reciprocity (“Negotiations Skills,” 2018). While I endorse this principle wholeheartedly, I have trouble framing concessions in a way that would make the opposing side more willing to reciprocate and make concessions of their own in response.

Rule 2, which encompasses the principles of effective communication, is particularly important. As the article notes, negotiation is impossible without communication, and effective communication is not a given. First and foremost, it is crucial to develop effective channels of communication, and the article advises to be cooperative and try to put oneself in the opposing side’s shoes (“Negotiations Skills,” 2018). At the same time, it reminds us that building rapport should not be an excuse for letting one’s guard down (“Negotiations Skills,” 2018). In short, the rules pertaining to communication are important because they describe the tricky balancing act between finding common ground with the opposing negotiator and surrendering too much of this ground.

Every day, children and teenagers are detained in the United States, with people of color being especially vulnerable. Even though youth arrests and detentions have decreased, severe racial inequities in the juvenile justice system seem to remain at the same level. Minority children, specifically Black children, tend to be overcriminalized and overrepresented at every stage of the criminal justice system, from arrests through post-adjudication placements. As a result, despite the fact that 62% of children detained in the United States were white, minority children were nearly twice as likely to be incarcerated (The state of America’s children, 2020). Therefore, it is not only youth arrests that are being problematic but the prejudices and wrong accusations of minorities.

The issue of youth arrests is concerning since a lot of children do not even comprehend the consequences. A social connections factor can help eliminate this problem with proper advocacy. This approach and the implementation of this ideal can help lower the juvenile arrest rate and prevent children from doing something that will have serious consequences.

It is critical to navigate the child, show the proper way of interacting with others, and set specific objectives.

Urie Bronfenbrenner’s Theory

Bronfenbrenner established the bioecological theory of development, which claims that human development is a natural transitional process in which a person’s growth is influenced by contacts with a variety of parts and areas of their environment (Soyer, 2019). As a result, a child’s development alters based on how long certain conditions in either the home or school setting remain ongoing.
