Punishment is believed to be one of the most efficient methods of ensuring the individual’s reconsidering of one’s actions after breaching the law. The punishment as a notion is then divided into some major types according to the scope of a committed crime. Hence, some of the punishments issued after conviction include fines, mandatory counseling, treatment facilities placement, incarceration, the death penalty, house arrest, and hours of community service. All of the aforementioned types are closely correlated with the type of crime committed since their major goal is not to make a person feel uncomfortable. They are designed to make sure that he or she takes responsibility for one’s actions and accounts for such actions’ potential damaging outcomes in the first place.
Over the genesis of the war on drugs, the issue of drug suppliers’ punishment measures has been discussed across the state. In the following case, the death from drug ingestion is a prime example of a drug-induced homicide – one of the most controversial laws when it comes to illicit drug dealing. In fact, drug-induced homicide was legitimate across the US states in the 1990s, when at the beginning of the 21st centuries it was contained in most areas. The case of overdose is, de jure, not a supplier’s or creator’s responsibility. Once the drug is supplied to a user, he or she is supposed to take responsibility for its further utilization. However, they should be, by all means, charged with illicit drug dealing in the first place. According to the Ex Post Facto laws, this particular illicit drug creator’s charges might be aggravated considering the fact of the person’s death.

Modern technologies are revolutionizing the way human beings share ideas, pursue their goals, and solve emerging social problems. Such inventions streamline communication processes and guide people to make informed decisions. Broadcast media is essential in educating, training, and informing the targeted audience. However, those who use these innovations stand a chance to experience both benefits and possible challenges associated with them. This analytical paper describes the dangers of social media platforms and how they can ruin people’s social and romantic relationships.
Impacts of Media on Relationships
Some social media users tend to suffer from anxiety and depression due to its addictive nature, thereby having higher chances of affecting their relationships in a negative manner. These mental challenges will make it impossible for them to engage in sincere conversations with their colleagues, lovers, or even family members (Yacoub et al. 54). They might ignore the emotions, expectations, and experiences of those near them, and eventually become less involved in activities that used to be interesting before. The affected individuals will continue to rely on different social media platforms as the only source of consolation. Those who fail to seek timely treatment will have higher risks of developing mental illnesses and eventually becoming unsuccessful in life.
Prolonged use of social media can result in negative interactions between siblings, parents and their children, or individuals in romantic relationships. The affected people will have minimum opportunities for communicating efficiently and improving their interpersonal competencies (Abbas et al. 1689). The level of bonding will decline after a short period and eventually affect the stability of the relationship. The occurrence of these challenges makes it impossible for the individuals involved in such a relationship to engage in sustainable social exchange. For example, some could stop sharing ideas to solve their common problems. Others could find it hard to learn more about their partners’ expectations and social cues (Abbas et al. 1691). Any relationship that lacks the engagement of the involved individuals will definitely fail and make it hard for them to be successful in social communication.
Human beings engaged in various relationships need to improve their social skills continuously and apply them accordingly to make them healthy. However, social media addiction is associated with increased levels of envy and loneliness. In worst cases, the individuals will find it hard to improve their social skills since they will be relying on such platforms to converse and relate with their friends, relatives, partners, or spouses (Yacoub et al. 56). These people will be unable to develop their social skills, appreciate personal differences, and support their relationships. The loss of self-esteem will make it impossible for them to meet their relatives and partners face-to-face (Abbas et al. 1696). Such occurrences would mean that the relationship will have increased chances of failing and affecting the experiences of the involved partners.
Conclusion
The above analysis has identified modern technologies as inventions that present both opportunities and risks to every user. Those who are engaged in various relationships should utilize them sparingly to minimize cases of addiction and depression. Over Reliance of social media will destroy partnerships by affecting people’s social skills, triggering anxiety, and discouraging them from communicating directly with their partners. These insights have the potential to guide more individuals to use modern technology cautiously if they want to have fruitful relationships.

The value of every human life is a long-term and commonly discussed issue. However, the existence of animals, plants, and non-human objects does not always receive the same support. Today, anthropocentrism is being challenged by environmental ethics, the discipline that discusses the relationship between people and the environment (Brennan & Yeuk-Sze, 2020). This discipline allows the argument that objects, such as buildings, can have a good of their own and have interests that should be respected.
The value of buildings for human beings is undeniable as people use them as shelters, workplaces, and leisure spots. Some buildings also have historical and aesthetic significance that should be considered when discussing their value independent of their usefulness for people (Brennan & Yeuk-Sze, 2020). The historical and aesthetic importance of buildings can be addressed from the consequentialist ethical theory’s point of view. The theory states that value is determined by whether the consequence of an action is positive or negative (Brennan & Yeuk-Sze, 2020). In the utilitarian approach, both the historical and aesthetic significance of a structure have positive outcomes (Brennan & Yeuk-Sze, 2020). A landmark building can inform people about the past, whereas an aesthetically appealing building brings pleasure to the onlookers. Therefore, such structures have instrumental value as any significance can be used by human beings. In the deontological point of view, consequences are unimportant, and the moral duty of respectful treatment takes precedence (Brennan & Yeuk-Sze, 2020). Thus, if a building is historically significant or aesthetically pleasing, it should be protected as it has a value beyond simple usefulness for human beings. Overall, it can be argued that some buildings have a good of their own, and their interests should be respected. However, not all ethical theories support this point of view.
